About

I’m Apurva Nakade, an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Applied Mathematics & Statistics department at Johns Hopkins University. I build these apps for my own classes. Each one takes a single idea, a numerical method or a visual proof, and makes it something you can change and watch, rather than something you only read about.

Using the apps in a class

Every app writes its inputs into its URL, so the address bar is always a link to exactly what you’re looking at. Set up an example, copy the link, and put it in your notes or a problem set.

You can also put an app straight into another page, such as a course site or lecture notes. Every app has a Share button that writes the embed code for you; Embedding an app has the details.

Contributing

The site is open source, on GitHub. If something is broken or confusing, open an issue. If you’d like to add an app, the contributing guide walks through it.

Acknowledgments

This project was made possible by a Teaching Innovation Grant from the Johns Hopkins Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation, awarded to me and Dhruv Azad, a student at Johns Hopkins. Thanks to Dhruv for helping kickstart the project.

All of the code on this site is written and maintained by Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, and curated by me.
